Congratulations to our Under 17 team who became the Berkshire Champions last Sunday
It rounded off an excellent unbeaten season which had already seen commanding wins over Boyne Hill, Maidenhead & Bray, Pinkneys Green and Littlewick Green, before a tight and low-scoring semi-final victory over Peppard Stoke Row
Cookham made 134-6 in the Final, with DJ Singh (50 retired off 51 balls) and captain Jonny O’Donnell (27 off 18 balls) the key contributors
Slough never looked likely to challenge the target after fine opening spells from Sashank Sahasranamamula and Girish Radhakrishnan left Slough 30-2 off 8 overs, with Sashank claiming the key wickets of Arush Dumpala and Lashevin Srisankar
Cookham were spoilt for bowling options, with spinners Adhrit Pande (2-17) and Josh Duckworth (3-5) killing off the game after Ethan Duckworth (2-11) had also howled an excellent spell
Jonny O’Donnell also finished the competition as the leading run scorer, a fine achievement especially with his runs having generally come at a 200+ strike rate
With the majority of this team eligible for 2025, the future looks bright and with high hopes for retaining the crown
